About
A directory built on public data.
Help Me Find A Doctor helps patients search every active U.S. clinician and gives doctors a free way to claim and enrich their profile.
Where the data comes from
Our directory is sourced from the NPPES NPI Registry, the public dataset maintained by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. It contains every clinician with an active National Provider Identifier — about 1.5 million people.
What doctors add
Anything beyond the registry — bios, photos, accepting-patients status, patient Q&A — is added by the doctor or their staff after they claim their profile.
Our AI assistant
Ask a Doctor uses Lovable AI to give plain-language general health information. It is not medical advice and is never attributed to a real physician.
A note on accuracy
Registry data can lag practice changes (new addresses, retirements, name changes). If you spot something out of date and you're the doctor, claim your profile and update it. For NPI record corrections, contact NPPES directly.
Not medical advice
Nothing on this site — directory entries, Q&A, blog posts, or AI answers — is medical advice. Always consult a licensed clinician for your situation. For emergencies call 911.
