Terms of Use
Welcome to Help Me Find A Doctor ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What We Provide
We operate a directory of U.S. healthcare providers based on public data from the NPPES NPI Registry. Doctors may claim their profiles to add bios, photos, and other professional information. We also provide an AI-powered general information tool ("Ask a Doctor") that is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
2. No Medical Advice
Nothing on this site — directory listings, AI answers, blog posts, or reviews — constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for personal medical concerns. In case of emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number.
3. Directory Data Accuracy
NPI Registry data is maintained by the U.S. government and may lag behind real-world changes (new addresses, retirements, name changes). We do not guarantee real-time accuracy. Doctors are responsible for keeping their claimed profile information current.
4. User-Generated Content
Reviews, Q&A, and claimed profile content are provided by users and doctors. We moderate content to remove spam, abuse, or false claims, but we do not pre-approve all submissions. By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on the site.
5. Prohibited Uses
You may not use this site to:
- Scrape or bulk-download data for commercial redistribution
- Post false, misleading, or defamatory reviews
- Impersonate a doctor or submit fraudulent profile claims
- Attack, harass, or discriminate against any individual
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site, including decisions you make based on directory information or AI-generated content. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.
7. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Significant changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
Automatically: When you visit, we collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent) and may use cookies or similar technologies.
Search queries: We log searches to improve our directory relevance. These are not tied to your identity unless you are signed in.
Account data: If you claim a doctor profile or create an account, we collect your email address and any information you voluntarily add to your profile.
Reviews & Q&A: When you submit a review or question, we collect the content and a display name you provide.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate and improve the directory and search experience
- To authenticate doctors claiming their profiles
- To display user-generated content (reviews, Q&A)
- To analyze usage patterns and fix bugs
- To communicate with you about your account or profile
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- With service providers who help us operate the site (hosting, analytics)
- When required by law or to protect our rights
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
Directory data (doctor names, specialties, locations) comes from the public NPI Registry and is already public information.
4. Data Retention
We keep account and profile data as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes. Reviews and Q&A content may remain visible even if you delete your account, unless you specifically request removal.
5. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. However, no online service is 100% secure. Please use strong passwords and keep your account credentials safe.
Your Data Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to certain processing activities
