Annual exams, contraception, fertility workups, pregnancy care, and menopause — how to route the right question to the right specialist.

Symptoms this guide covers

  • Missed or heavy periods
  • Pelvic pain
  • Trouble getting pregnant
  • Prenatal care
  • Menopause symptoms (hot flashes, sleep, mood)
  • Contraception questions

Which specialists to see

  • OB-GYN

    Find one

The default for most reproductive, gynecologic, and prenatal care.

  • Endocrinologists

    Find one

PCOS, thyroid, and hormone problems that OB-GYN can't fully cover.

  • BHRT & Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

    Find one

For perimenopause and menopause hormone therapy programs.

When to add a specialist beyond OB-GYN

Trying to conceive for more than 12 months (or 6 months if 35+) is the standard cutoff for a reproductive endocrinologist. Menopause symptoms that disrupt sleep or work deserve a clinician who prescribes hormone therapy comfortably — not every OB-GYN does.
